Anyone else going to be at LPS tonight? I’m considering going even though I’m exhausted. Might try to get there early to get a commander game in if anyone is up for that.

@Tayatranscendent Heck yeah. Probably won't be early enough for pregaming, though, chatting with some of the organizers about how to get more folks showing up.

@SliverQueen definitely won’t be able to stay for sealed build + multiple rounds tonight. I’ve got an early dental appointment tomorrow. Still wanted to come by for a while at least.

@SliverQueen @Tayatranscendent Same. Any thoughts about what you're going to suggest? I'm thinking greater diversity of formats, maybe Constructed nights at other locations & times. Brewing challenges (might be a little out there)?

@DialMforMara @SliverQueen brewing challenges would be pretty neat. I liked that aspect of community super league. It does raise the participation bar a bit though.

It wouldn't raise it all that much more than having a Standard night.

the problem I'm seeing is that we need to balance what we want to do with what the store wants to do. That's why there have been so many more drafts: they bring money into the store.

And that's why I'm going to suggest we have more events outside Mox--so we don't have to work within their business plan as much.

@DialMforMara @SliverQueen the main difference I see there is people can build a standard deck whenever and just show up. If we had brewing challenges they’d need to know ahead of time and make something new. I’m still absolutely for the idea though.

I’m still pretty new to the group, but it does seems like half or so of the regular attendees are mox or ck staff. Is that accurate? I love the idea of doing things at other locations or other times it attracts more people.

@Tayatranscendent @DialMforMara Yeah, having more restrictive or niche formats raises the barrier to energy, the more people have to plan ahead the less we'll get. Other times and locations would be good, I know Nick at Phoenix wanted to get some LPS events. We also just need to advertise better (at all), even as much as a poster on the bulletin board in the shop. Just being at cons isn't cutting it for us.

@Tayatranscendent @DialMforMara I'd also like to see more week-to-week continuity to encourage returning players - either a long-term league, or just awards or recognition for people playing well over multiple events. Not just "most wins" but most unique brews, most improved, broadest skill set, those sorts of things.

@SliverQueen @Tayatranscendent Great idea. I'd enjoy an LPS Sealed League.

Maybe split some events between "play your League games on one side of the room, do a different Constructed challenge on the other"

@DialMforMara @Tayatranscendent As much as I like the idea of Constructed challenges, those are for people like us who are already committed to being there every Tuesday, and are willing to plan ahead. We need events that people can look at Monday afternoon, think, sure, I'll do that, and just show up.

I think it'd be cool to work out a deal with CK to run a brewing workshop, where anyone attending can get a discount on ordering commons or uncommons from upstairs.

@SliverQueen @Tayatranscendent I would love to be part of that

Maybe have teaching events that aren't for beginners? How to brew, drafting strategy, how to make the most of your sealed pool, how to sideboard...

@SliverQueen @Tayatranscendent Speaking of which, I'm working on a drafting strategy guide for my technical writing class. Can I ask you guys (and the instance more broadly) for feedback?

@DialMforMara @Tayatranscendent (this reply breaks threading, but I'm also willing to review content.)

@SliverQueen @Tayatranscendent I want a sticker on my laptop that says "this reply breaks threading" like "this machine kills facists"

@DialMforMara @Tayatranscendent Those would all be *awesome*.

Other advertising vectors - commission someone to draw us a token or token series that CK can put into their store pickup orders, that has a link to the Facebook group? "LPS sent me, button please"?
